About the Authors

            Archie and Linda Dixon live in central California, where they raised 9 children.  They were foster parents for 17 years, caring for over 130 children.  They have always loved cooking and camping, so when they got their first Dutch oven they knew it would be a life-long hobby.  They are active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and have always felt having extra food stored for emergencies was very important.

 Early in 2009 Archie looked at Linda and declared, “We need to write a book about cooking your food storage in a Dutch oven and how to store charcoal.  How are all the people who have dried and canned food stored going to cook it when there is no gas or electricity?”  That was the beginning of an adventure; one filled with recipes and tasting foods, hot weather and crashed computers. Finally with help from their friends the Medeiros’ and the Papins, “Don’t be afraid of your food storage…just Dutch it!” was created.
